Andalusia’s Sears will soon reopen for business in the store’s location adjacent to Strikers bowling alley on the bypass, according to officials with the company’s home office in Illinois.
Keri Durkin, vice president of operations for Sears, said the doors should reopen next month, following the store’s abrupt closure in early February.
“We are remaining in the marketplace,” Durkin said in a message left in response to inquires from The Star-News. “We have a temporary location. We will be re-opening in the previous location in the month of March after a remodel and a change in ownership.”
The store closed earlier this month after then-owner Alan Jones said negotiations broke down between his staff and the corporate office. Jones cited poor customer service on the part of the store’s corporate division, among other issues as reasons for breaking ties with the company.
Jones said his contract with Sears expired Jan. 3, 2014, and expressed interest in opening his own local store that would carry products similar to those sold by Sears.
Durkin did not reveal the location of the store’s “temporary location,” and city officials said no new business license has yet been issued.
