High School students from all over Covington County converged on the office of the Board of Education Wednesday afternoon for a chance to figure out just what to do after receiving their diplomas.

Covington County career coach Amber McKathan said approximately 150 juniors and seniors from Straughn, Pleasant Home, Florala and Red Level high schools showed up between and 1 and 3 p.m. for this year’s career fair, which featured a wide array of both colleges and businesses.

“Usually, the career fair is held at Straughn High School,” McKathan said. “But this year we got them to come over here and it’s been a great turnout.”

McKathan said freshmen and sophomore students from the four high schools also took part in the fair between and 3 and 5 p.m.

McKathan said a special thank you was in order for SHS’ JAG Club and sponsor Whitney Geohagan for helping to coordinate the fair, which is in its fifth year.

Taking part in this year’s fair were: Auburn University; Jacksonville State University; the University of South Alabama; the University of Alabama; Huntingdon College; Troy University’ Enterprise State Community College; Alabama Aviation Center; Lurleen B. Wallace Community College; Faulkner State College; LBWCC’s nails and esthetics, cosmetology, welding, air conditioning and refrigeration, office management, auto mechanics, computer sciene and diesel mechanics programs; ST Aerospace; Covington County Bank; PowerSouth; Shaw Industries; Southeast Alabama Gas District’ Woodard Law Firm; Coca-Cola Refreshments; Andalusia Manor; Andalusia Regional Hospital; Go Build Alabama; Covington Electric Co-op; Information Technology Systems; Covington County Sheriff’s Department; Covington County Schools; EMS; the U.S. National Guard; and the U.S. Navy.
