Donations are currently needed for a church-wide indoor garage sale to be held Sat., Feb. 8. No donations are too large or small, and tax exemption forms are available upon request, church officials said.

Donations, which will be sold to help fund trips to Niger and Kenya, can be dropped off at Guardian Angel Daycare during business hours, or under the porch at 1716 Stanley Ave. (Family Life Center of AFGT) after business hours. AFGT pastor John Hunt said mission team members are currently in Niger, and have plans to travel back to Africa later this year.

“Our mission team is there right now in Niger,” Hunt said. “Michael and Stacey Frank actually carried their two children with them and are there right now doing some good work.”

Hunt said the family trusted in God to provide funds for the trip, something the AFGT church family is now working to help do.

“They went by faith, and now we are trying to go back and help fund the trip,” Hunt said.

The Franks’ plan while in Niger is to spread the Gospel, while doing humanitarian work.

“We believe in a two-fold ministry where the whole Gospel means meeting both physical and spiritual needs,” the Franks said in a statement.

According to officials at AFGT, the Franks chose Niger because the country in one of the poorest in the world. Among the Franks’ plans are to provide volunteer medical work in Niamey, Niger’s capital city; to help build the first and only Christian TV and radio stations in the country; help install solar panels in villages with no electricity in order to power well pumps or small lights or for charging cell phones and radios; to lead children’s evangelism groups; and to lead Biblical storytelling sessions and musical training.

According to church officials, the cost for the Franks to travel to and from Niger is $5,000, and the amount of additional aid they are able to provide in Africa is a direct result of stateside fundraising.

AFGT’s Mindy Hunt said church members were able to travel to Kenya in August of 2013, but would use some of the funds raised by the garage sale for another trip, that is tentatively planned for December.
