Fifty-one runners and walkers braved the wet weather Saturday morning in PowerSouth Energy’s 2014 Resolution 5K Run/Walk in Andalusia.

The 5K was hosted by PowerSouth’s Relay for Life Team and its sponsors. The run raised more than $6,000 for Relay for Life, which was an all-time high for the event.

A total of 109 runners and walkers registered for the race.

“It was a tremendous success and all for a good cause,” PowerSouth Communications Manager Mark Ingram said.

Ingram said plans are in the works for next year’s fourth run/walk.

Andalusia’s Jayden Ellison was the overall winner of the race, clocking in at 21 minutes, 20.8 seconds. The overall female winner was Lisa Locklier, who ran the 3.1 mile race in 25:27.

Additionally, male participant Hudson Dean, 10, dribbled a basketball during his 5K, and helped raise more than $500 for Relay for Life.
