Friday morning, the children at Andalusia Public Library were introduced to “the way things (toys) used to be.”

In combination with the Smithsonian’s exhibit, “The Way We Worked,” and interest in the textile history of Andalusia, story time at the APL included cotton plants and their uses.

Children were able to see cotton, and feel and try to separate the seeds from inside, and it was discussed how the cotton was spun into yarn. The children and adults then used yarn to make dolls.

Next week, on Jan. 24, story time will include a visit from Nina Keenam, who will play the dulcimer, and Chuck Simon, who will show children the bagpipes.
