Pleasant Home’s annual Alabama-Florida Shootout tips off tomorrow afternoon.
The Eagles’ two-day round-robin tournament always has two schools each from Alabama and Florida competing in the exhibition.
Pleasant Home and Florala are the teams from Alabama. Laurel Hill and Baker are the teams from Florida. Each school will have a boys and girls team playing for an eight-team field.
PHS boys coach Bradley Stephens said the tournament is one that allows teams to “knock the rust off” before area play starts next week.
“It helps us get things back going and get ready for area,” Stephens said.
Tomorrow’s play starts at 3 p.m. with Florala’s girls playing Laurel Hill’s girls. Florala’s boys will then play Laurel Hill’s boys at 4:30.
Pleasant Home’s girls play Baker girls at 6 p.m. The PHS boys have the night cap at 7:30.
The schedule flip flops on Saturday, with Florala’s teams playing Baker, and Pleasant Home facing Laurel Hill.
During last year’s tournament, Pleasant Home’s boys defeated Baker 67-60 on the last night of the tournament.
Admission is $5 each day.
