An Andalusia man is in jail and his alleged stash of drugs and cash is gone after he apparently wore out his welcome at an Oak Street home Saturday.

Andalusia Police officers arrived at the home just after 1 a.m. in response to a disturbance call. Sgt. Jody Scott said the homeowner told officers that, “Someone had been in her house arguing and that they were intoxicated and she wanted the house checked and that person gone.”

When officers began checking the home, they noticed the strong odor of marijuana coming from behind a locked door. After knocking, Jimmy Bernard Jackson Jr. opened the door, and the smell got stronger, Scott said.

Scott said officers noticed several small plastic bags on a table in the middle of the room some containing white powder believed to be cocaine, and some containing Xanax.  A search of the room revealed several small bags of narcotics, cocaine, marijuana, and pills, hidden in various locations in the room. Officers found devices used to measure the weight of the narcotics, items used in the packaging and sell of the narcotics and a large amount of cash in a small plastic bag.

Jackson is charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana I and possession of drug paraphernalia. He remains in the county jail on a $43,000 bond.
