MONTGOMERY — Pleasant Home couldn’t keep up with St. Luke’s dominant play Saturday and suffered a 13-25, 14-25, 10-25 sweep in the quarterfinals of the Class 1A South Super Regional Volleyball Tournament at the Cramton Bowl Multiplex.
PHS volleyball coach Jerry Davis said he thought the girls played well, given their stout competition.
“This is one of those deals where I don’t care what they say, all of those kids, they all grew up and have been raised at Pleasant Home,” Davis said. “When you start playing these private schools, it’s the same deal. You’re going to struggle.”
The Lady Eagles couldn’t get in any sort of rhythm during the match and found themselves down 2-0.
Things didn’t get any better as in the third set, PHS didn’t get a point until it trailed 12-0.
Davis substituted some younger girls to get them some playing time at the end of the match.
On the season overall, which the Lady Eagles finished 19-10, Davis said the girls accomplished a lot.
“I’m proud of them,” he said. “We had great leadership. We didn’t have very little drama. We had a great year.”
