Lady Tigers win volleyball tourney

Straughn won its own volleyball tournament today, defeating Charles Henderson, Pleasant Home and Brantley at its gymnasium.
The Lady Tigers beat the Lady Trojans 25-10, 25-5 in the tournament opener.
Pleasant Home, who finished 2-1 for the day, beat CHHS 25-17, 25-20.
“We’re getting there,” PHS coach Jerry Davis said. “We’re going to start practicing and get ready for the area tournament coming up. We’re starting to put the pieces in place and get better.”
In the third game, Brantley topped CHHS 25-14, 25-17.
Straughn came back at noon and beat the Lady Eagles 25-16, 25-22.
Pleasant Home got its second win of the tournament in a 25-13, 25-22 victory over Brantley.
Straughn closed the tournament with a 25-13, 25-12 win over Brantley.
SHS coach Daniel Rodgers said the girls played well today, just like they have in the last week.
“Right now, we’re playing more as a team,” Rodgers said. “They seem to be having fun out there. These girls, I don’t have to tell you how great they are. They have a great work ethic, a great attitude.”
Rodgers added a thank you for those who helped support the team in the tournament.
The Lady Tigers host Opp in area play on Tuesday, while Pleasant Home visits W.S. Neal on Monday.
