Citizen tip leads to drug arrests

A tip from a “citizen informant” led the Florala Police Department and Drug Task Force agents on Tuesday to arrest a Florida couple for drug trafficking.
After receiving the tip, Florala officer Paul Adams stopped Richard Alan Wilson, 31, and Jenny Marie Harrison, 34, both of DeFuniak Springs, for a traffic infraction. Adams received consent to search the vehicle, and he and DTF agents found two plastic bottles containing methamphetamine oil, numerous containers and straws containing methamphetamine residue as well as other items associated with the manufacture of methamphetamine. Agents reported that the filed weight of the methamphetamine oil was 250 grams.
The caller had alleged that the couple was attempting to purchase meth ingredients in Florala.
“I really don’t understand how people can be this stupid,” DTF Commander Mark Odom said. “Covington County is not the place you want to be bringing drugs. Our citizens have resoundingly and repeatedly said that they are tired of it. We get calls every day from good citizen informants about drug activity. Drug traffickers and dealers who think that they can conduct their ‘business’ in Covington County need to think again. We are coming for you, and we will get you.”
The DTF may be reached at (334)222-3532. Odom says if you do not receive an answer, please leave the information on the DTF voice mail. All information received from citizen informants remains confidential, he said.
