AHS girls top Kinston; SHS sweeps Elba

Andalusia topped Kinston 3-2 in volleyball action Tuesday night at home.
The Lady Bulldogs of AHS lost the first set 19-25, but bounced back to win the second 25-20.
Kinston, known for its dominance in volleyball, came back to take a 2-1 lead by taking the third set, 25-17.
Andalusia regrouped and punched a 25-19 fourth set to force a winner-take-all fifth set.
AHS came out on top 15-11 in the final set.
Alexis Lawrence led AHS with six kills. Merikal had eight blocks.
Andalusia hosts Hillcrest-Evergreen tomorrow night in area action.
In other volleyball action, Pleasant Home defeated Red Level 3-0 (25-7, 25-7, 25-10). In JV action, the Lady Eagles won 2-1 (25-12, 24-26, 15-5).
Straughn topped Elba 3-0 (25-11, 25-14, 25-15) in varsity action.
SHS coach Daniel Rodgers said the girls played their best match of the year last night.
The Lady Tigers travel to face Opp tomorrow night in a key area match. SHS and OHS beat Excel in area action earlier this season to go 1-0 in Class 3A, Area 2 action.
Opp beat New Brockton, 3-0.
The matches start at 4 p.m. with the junior high team, followed by JV and then varsity in the night cap.
