Attention Andalusia High School alumni: That card you received in the mail advertising an alumni database, it’s legit.
“No, it’s not a scam,” said Superintendent Ted Watson Wednesday of the postcards claiming to “need help immediately…in the process of collecting current biographical information for the AHS comprehensive directory of graduates.”
Watson said the school board agreed months ago to contract out the project. The information gathered will be used for a multitude of reasons. It is not a scam, he said.
“It’s legit,” he said. “We’ve OK’d them to contact former graduates. The company will compile that information into a directory, which will be for sale and can be used as a means by which people can stay up with others,
“For the system, it gives us a way to track our graduates after high school,” he said. “It’s not all inclusive. The main purpose is for all us to contact alumni, for events and fundraisers and those type situations.”
Watson said there should not be a charge to submit information; however, a directory will be sold at a later date.
The card urges gradates to call 1-800-251-8262 to confirm the information on file.
