Now that the high school golf season has come to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the City of Andalusia and Jim Locklier for the use of the facilities at the Evans Barnes Golf Course. The staff went above and beyond what they had to do to provide my golf team the practice facilities and home course necessary for them to be able to compete in the Alabama High Schools Athletic Associations golf program. They didn’t have to help a bunch of young kids and a county school but they did and in doing so help to build the fourth best 3A golf team and the 3A individual champion in the state. As the Straughn golf coach, county citizen and City of Andalusia employee, it gives me a sense of pride that my employer stepped up and allowed 10 young men and one young lady the chance to be a part of an experience that will remain with them for a lifetime. So on behalf of the Straughn Golf Team, home of the 3A individual state champion, please accept my heart felt thanks for helping them achieve all the lofty goals we had set earlier in the year.
