PHS girls top Straughn

Pleasant Home beat Straughn 8-1 in softball action Monday night.
The Lady Eagles were led by Abby Walker and Taylor McGee, who pitched for their team.
Raven Woods went 3-for-3 with a stolen base; Brianna Dozier went 2-for-4 with a stolen base; and Abigail Kelley went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases.
Straughn coach Trent Taylor said Payton Mitchell threw a good game for the Lady Tigers last night.
Pleasant Home will be back in action today at New Brockton. Straughn travels to face Opp at 6 p.m. in area play.
AHS girls rally, fall short to Elba
The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs came back from a 6-0 deficit, but fell short in a 6-5 decision to Elba on Monday night.
EHS scored its runs in the second, third and fourth innings of play.
AHS got back in the game in the bottom of the sixth inning with some timely hits, Lady Bulldogs coach Brad Garner said.
AHS will be back in action tonight at Hillcrest-Evergreen in a crucial area contest.
The Lady Bulldogs need to win tonight and Thursday night at Monroe County to be able to host the Class 4A, Area 2 tournament.
Wildcats sweep McKenzie
Florala’s Lady Wildcats scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and topped McKenzie 9-7 in regular season action on Monday night.
FHS took a 6-1 early lead, but MCHS made it a tie game in the sixth inning at 6-all.
Lyndsee Edwards led FHS with three hits.
Lily Ritzel struck out 11 to get the win on the mound.
In baseball action, Florala beat McKenzie 24-14 in a shoot out.
The Wildcats improve to 15-4, and will host Geneva County for the first round of the Class 1A state playoffs on Friday.
