The Covington County Quilters’ Guild’s “The Sweetgum Stitchers” held their spring retreat at Blue Lake Camp March 7-10. The quilters worked on projects of their choice such as piecing quilt tops, hand quilting, sewing, knitting and crocheting.
The guild has recently started making “Quilts of Valor” for wounded military personnel. A number of the guild members worked on quilts or blocks for this project.
It was a time of fellowship and sharing as well as enjoying all the good food brought by members. Some member stayed the entire time at the camp while others came and sewed when they could.
Guild members at the retreat were Linda Pate, Sandra Davis, Jane Barber, Maribel Brown, Joyce Adams, Shelia Johnson, Eileen Bicker, Cathy Dillashaw, Sylvia Mounts, Shirley Langford, Norma Williamson, Jan Harbuck, Teresa Nelson, Bobby Bagley, Miriam Foshee, Ruth James and Anne Mallory. A special visitor on Saturday and future quilter was Aubrey Cross, the granddaughter of Teresa Nelson.
The CCQG meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Power-South boardroom in Andalusia.
