Five local baseball and softball teams will be steeped in tournament action today and tomorrow.

Andalusia’s baseball team travels to Troy to play in the Best of the Best Tournament; Pleasant Home’s softball team visits Hoover for the Orange and Black Classic; and Straughn’s softball team will host its annual KLD Tournament.

The Bulldogs will play Charles Henderson and UMS-Wright today at 4 and 6, respectively; and Stanhope Elmore at 2 p.m. on Saturday, in Troy University’s Riddle-Pace Stadium. AHS’ final game of the tournament will be at 5 p.m. against Northview at Charles Henderson High School later on Saturday.

PHS will play Enterprise and Bibb County at 5:15 and 7:30 tonight, respectively, on Field No. 5, at Hoover Central Sports Park. On Saturday, the Lady Eagles face Hoover at 9 a.m. on Field A, and Oak Mountain at 10:45 a.m. on Field B at Hoover High School. PHS will then face Pelham at 1:30 p.m. on Field No. 5.

Straughn’s KLD Tournament — which is in a round robin format — will begin at 9 a.m. with Brantley against Andalusia.

Straughn and Opp will then play at 10:30, followed by Brantley-Straughn (noon), Opp-Andalusia (1:30 p.m.), Brantley-Opp (3 p.m.) and Straughn-Andalusia (4:30 p.m.).

A tournament champion will be determined by three criteria — best record, head to head and fewest runs allowed.

All games at the KLS Tournament will be seven innings.
