Under the blue canopy that was a beautiful sky on Monday afternoon, it felt good to be outside again.

For the past few months, I’ve been inside several gyms watching basketball teams go at it for either an area, tournament or rival victory on the hardwood.

Monday’s weather was a welcome sight after all of the gloomy mess that swept through our area last week.

On this particular day, I was taking photos of the shot gun start of Andalusia’s golf match against Straughn, Opp, Charles Henderson and Carroll-Ozark.

AHS golf coach Marshall Locke called all of the teams together for a brief pre-match meeting to discuss the rules and reminded each player that pace of play was important.

I was standing on the far side of the putting green, where players usually warm up before their rounds.

As teams got their instruction from Locke, I looked up and was astonished at what I saw.

Above the live oak, the blue sky seemed to go on forever.

It took my breath away and at that moment, it felt wonderful to be outside once again.

My mom has always said that we are supposed to be outside because there is always something to do, whether it be play or work.

Spring sports are in full swing, and I’m pumped to be outside again, even if I have to brave the elements to score a baseball or softball game.

Pretty soon the weather will start to warm up and everyone will start thanking their stars for the relief from the cold.

Whether it be cold or hot, I’ll be appreciative anyway because the opportunity to work under a blue sky almost every day is satisfying enough.
