It may have been a cold day on Saturday for some softball, but Opp coach Jimmy Reeves said it was a great day for some competitive play on the field.
Kinston’s junior varsity squad won the OHS JV tournament at the complex in Opp to finish the exhibition a perfect 5-0.
“It was a great day,” Reeves said. “The most exciting game of the tournament was Kinston and Opp, who went into extra innings to see who would play Florala in the championship game.”
The Lady Bulldogs went on to beat Opp, 4-3.
Florala finished as the runner up and 3-2 overall at the tournament. OHS came in third place at 3-3.
There were eight teams that participated in the tournament.
Andalusia finished 0-3 in pool play and didn’t play in the bracket portion of the tournament. Straughn finished 1-2 in pool play.
Pleasant Home was 0-3.
“We had some really tremendous quality of softball for the JV level,” Reeves said.
Opp, Pleasant Home and Florala will be back in action today. OHS visits Elba, and Pleasant Home visits Florala.
