Mr. and Mrs. Edward Larry Stone of Andalusia announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Rebekah Lynn Stone of Birmingham, to Dr. Matthew Robert Fusco of Birmingham, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Patrick Fusco of Peoria, Ill.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Eunice Neese Hair and the late John Cedric Turner of Andalusia and Opal Overstreet Radford and the late E.L. Stone of Brewton.

She is a graduate of Andalusia High School and Auburn University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She is employed as a nurse in the Neuro-Intensive Care Unit at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and in the department of psychiatric services at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Lucy Maxwell and the late Robert Maxwell of Peoria, Ill., and the late Vincent and Mary Fusco of Mechanicville, N.Y.

He is a graduate of the University of Virginia, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology, and of Wake Forest University School of Medicine, where he earned a medical doctorate.

He is currently a neurosurgery resident at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and plans to pursue a fellowship training in cerebrovascular neurosurgery.

The wedding is scheduled for 6 p.m. on April 2, 2011, at First Church Birmingham, with the reception following at the Matt Jones Gallery.
