Andalusia’s basketball teams will be playing for the record books when area tournament begins next week.

With the boys win over cross-county rival Opp last night, coach Richard Robertson’s record improved to 698 wins. If his team is successful when it hosts the area tournament this coming week, he could get win 699 on Friday night over Straughn in the first round of the tournament, and could hit 700 by winning the tournament on Monday. The team also has an 11-game winning streak going.

Meanwhile the girls team, enjoying a 17-game winning streak, could break the 1988 team’s record of winning 18 straight by winning the area tournament. The girls play Ashford Thursday. If they win, they’ll play in the tournament finals on Saturday.
