An Opp woman was seriously injured Sunday after being attacked by two bulldogs, Opp Police Department officials said Monday.

Investigator Walt Inabinett said officers responded on Sunday to Lunsford Trailer Park where they discovered that two white English bulldogs had attacked 37-year-old Megan Schmitt.

The bulldogs, which belong to Troy Joshua Jay, a resident of the trailer park, escaped from their pen, and Schmitt was attacked while helping a family member of Jay’s return the dogs to their pen.

Schmitt was transported to Mizell Memorial Hospital, where she under went surgery late Sunday evening for injuries sustained to her body.

The Opp animal control officer recovered the bulldogs, and they are being quarantined for rabies testing purposes.
