After years of straight “Cs,” Alabama has earned an overall grade of “C+” in Education Week magazine’s latest Quality Counts Survey, which rates states on six measures of education policy and performance.

That jumps Alabama from 31st place to 25th in the report.

“Nobody’s doing a cockadoodle from the rooftops saying we’re the best, but it sure is great to see Alabama above the national average and it’s great to see the trajectory of our education going in the right direction,” State Superintendent Joe Morton said Thursday.
