Alabama beat Notre Dame 42-14 Monday night to win the 2013 Discover BCS National Championship at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla.

With this victory, the Crimson Tide won their 15th national championship and third in the last four years.

The Crimson Tide dominated from the start, screaming out to an early 21-0 lead in the first quarter over the then No. 1 defense in the country.

Alabama’s first three touchdowns came on its first three offensive possessions to help build a lead that eventually stretched to 35-0 in the third quarter. UA led 28-0 at halftime.

Alabama junior quarterback AJ McCarron passed for 264 yards and four touchdowns, and completed 20-of-28 of his passes without an interception.

Running back Eddie Lacy, who rushed for 140 yards on 20 carries and a touchdown, earned offensive most valuable player honors. Fellow running back and freshman, T.J. Yeldon had 108 yards and a TD. Additionally, Amari Cooper caught six passes for 105 yards and two TDs.

Tide linebacker C.J. Mosley earned defensive MVP honors.

On the night, Alabama had 529 total yards on offense.

Alabama held Notre Dame’s rush to 32 yards. The Irish outgained Alabama in passing 270-264.
