MARGARET
PRESTWOOD
Margaret Copeland Prestwood, 96, passed away Tues., Dec. 21, 2010.
Family and friends will celebrate her life on Mon., Dec. 27, at 2 p.m. at Keahey Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Fred Karthaus officiating, and interment following at the Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Prestwood was born in Troy on Nov. 19, 1914, to Lucy and Seth Copeland and was the first of four children. She is preceded in death by her siblings, Ann Anderson, Lucy Taylor and Seth Copeland Jr.
She grew up in Troy and was educated at Troy University, which was then Troy State Normal College. She moved to Andalusia to teach school and married James M. Prestwood in 1939. They were married until James died in 1996.
They had four children. Margaret Jean Vaughn of Pace, Fla., Lucy Elaine Schliesser (John) of Lakeland, Fla., the late James Morgan Prestwood III and the late Kent Snead Prestwood.
She has five grandchildren, James (Selena) Vaughn of Daphne, Laura Pierson of Coconut Creek, Fla., Jill (Joey) Watkins of New Orleans, Kari (Jason) Holley of Mountain Brook, and Jaime Prestwood of Andalusia.
She has seven great-grandchildren, Andrew, James and Shelby Pierson, Ellie and Copeland Holley, Ashley Beck and Austin Davis.
She was a longstanding member of the First Baptist Church of Andalusia and served there in various capacities over the years. She also enjoyed the historical society, garden clubs, study clubs, bridge clubs and ladies golf. She was elevated to “oldest active member status” in some of her favorite organizations.
Margaret’s life was like a beautiful garden, and flowers were entwined throughout it. A natural gardener, she enjoyed growing and arranging flowers, as well as studying and painting them.
Deepest appreciation is expressed to Barbara Bradley, Marge Elmore and the entire Elmore family who gave their love, support and companionship over the years, doubling as Margaret’s caregivers and guardian angels.

HIRAM CHESHIRE
Hiram Cheshire, 70, of the Red Oak Community, died Tues., Dec. 21, 2010, in a Dothan hospital.
Funeral services will be held Fri., Dec. 24, at 10:30 a.m., from the Red Oak Baptist Church with the Rev. Eugene Meadows officiating and interment following in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be tonight from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Katherleen Jay “Katie” Cheshire; a son, Danny Cheshire, both of the Red Oak Community; daughter-in-law, Kay Cheshire of Andalusia; two grandchildren, Jeremiah Cheshire and Jessica (Steven) Cobb; three great-grandchildren, Beau, Xander and Bella Cobb; two sisters, Jeanette (Foster) Weed and Illa Ruth Norris, all of Andalusia; and one brother, James Reynolds (Peggy) Cheshire of Pace, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Cheshire; parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.L. Cheshire Sr.; four brothers, James Wood and Bob, Jack and H.L. Cheshire; and two sisters, Lou Ellen and Betty Jean Cheshire.

RITA BROWN
On Tues., Dec. 14, 2010, the Lord decided it was time for Rita Brown of Andalusia to come home. “Then He said to the woman, your faith saved you, Go in Peace.”
She was born on Oct. 12, 1965, in Andalusia, to James and Iola Bryant. She accepted Christ at an early age as a member of First Baptist Church in Andalusia.
Funeral services were held Fri., Dec. 17, at Kirk’s Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Davis officiating, and interment following at Marshall Memorial Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Bryant, and three sisters, Linda Chambers, Anita Bryant and Diane Chambers.
She leaves to cherish her memories her loving mother, Iola Bryant; daughter, Alicia Beamon; son, Oddesius Bryant, all of Andalusia; four brothers, James (Jacquelin) Chambers of Mansfield, Ohio, Alphonso Chambers, Carvin Bryant and Marcus Bryant, all of Andalusia; one sister, Nola (Donald) Ball; one granddaughter, Myaria Bryant, all of Andalusia; 16 loving nieces; eight nephews; a host of devoted friends, aunts and uncles; and a special friend, Kenneth “Tim” Hall.
CHRIS KELLEY
Chris Kelley, 30, of Andalusia, passed away Sun., Dec. 19, 2010, in a Dothan hospital. Funeral services were held Wed., Dec. 22, at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Canant officiating and interment following at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Stephanie Tucker Kelley; mother and stepfather, Betty and Charles Woodall of Enterprise; sons, Jeremy Tucker and Taylor Kelley, both of Andalusia; sister, Charley Sue Woodall of Enterprise; stepsisters, Rachel Woodall and Rebecca Martin, both of Pinson, and Holly Stubblefield of Birmingham; sister-in-laws, Brandy Sutton and Dena and Steve Padgett; maternal grandmother, Geraldine Kelley, all of Andalusia; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Obie Reid Kelley, and father-in-law, Frankie Ray Tucker.
Pallbearers were Mark Patterson, David Everage, Kyle Harris, Chris Harris, Casey Colvin and Josh Sutton.
