Local police are now searching for a missing 14-year-old girl believed to be in the Montgomery area with a man she met on the Internet.
Jazzman Berry, a ninth grade student at Andalusia High School, was last seen when she was dropped off at AHS last Wedneday morning by her mother, Tracy Berry.
But she never returned home that day, her mother said.
“She normally comes home right after school, somewhere around 3:30 p.m,” Tracy said. “When she didn’t come home by 4:30 p.m., I started calling her friends.”
Initial conversations with her daughter’s friends didn’t yield any clues to Jazzman’s whereabouts; however, later discussions revealed the girl had been involved in an Internet relationship.
“They finally said she had been talking to a guy on the Internet in Montgomery,” she said. “I just want to get her picture out there so that maybe someone will see her, and we can find her.”
Berry filed a report with the Andalusia Police Department, who is currently investigating the incident.
Lt. Paul Dean confirmed that APD was indeed looking for the runaway child.
“Her location is believed to be somewhere in Montgomery,” he said. “We have it narrowed down pretty good, but we have not located her yet.”
Dean did not say specifically where in Montgomery the girl is believed to be located.
“We have been in touch with the Montgomery Police Department,” he said.
No information is available on the man’s identity.
Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Jazzman Berry can contact the Andalusia Police Department at 222-1155.
