Pleasant Home senior quarterback Hunter Odom isn’t happy one bit.

The Eagles lost their last two regular season games, and Odom said he felt like the team needed wins to get some momentum leading into tomorrow night’s first round contest against St. Luke’s in Mobile.

“I guess losing this, it just shows that we need to step it up,” he said.

With their final regular season loss to J.U. Blacksher last week, the Eagles lost four straight. Injuries have plagued the PHS team who clinched a playoff berth earlier in the season.

Odom said his team has to play at a higher level this week against the Wildcats.

“We’re definitely good enough to win,” he said. “They’re a very beatable team. We’ve just got to step it up. We can’t play like we’ve been playing these last few weeks.”

For two weeks, Odom sat on the sidelines and watched PHS lose to Brantley and MHS after he suffered a concussion during the 48-6 loss to Geneva County.

He said those two weeks off the field were “awful.”

“I wanted to be on the field so much,” Odom said. “I was out there with my team and helping them as much as I could.

“It felt good to out there playing with them (last week against JUBHS). This is my family I’m playing with,” he said. “I’ve been playing with them for 13 years.”

When asked how much he doesn’t want this week’s game to be his last, Odom said he just wants to keep playing as far as he can.

He also said he’s excited about the game.

“I’m ready to play to get us a second round berth,” Odom said.
