Opp council: Signs on power poles illegal

Opp City Council members reminded residents Monday that it’s illegal to put signs on utility poles within the city limits.
“We do have a city ordinance,” Council member Oren Stewart said.
Stewart said he was pleased that local politicians for getting signs up.
“I appreciate it,” he said. “We still do have a few signs up that need to come down.”
In addition, there has been a problem with yard sale signs staying up.
“People put them up, but they never come back and get them,” he said.
Opp Mayor H.D. Edgar reminded residents that they can be ticketed for not taking their signs down.
“We can go and give you a ticket if the sign has the address on it,” he said. “But we don’t want to have to.”
