Alabama will soon have a doctor in the governor’s mansion.

Tuscaloosa’s Dr. Robert Bentley, a retired dermatologist whose early campaign slogan was “the people of Alabama need a doctor,” had 58 percent of the votes cast with 99 percent of state precincts reporting.

Bentley also carried Covington County, where he received 64 percent of the votes cast in the governor’s race.
