Chili supper slated for Friday night

The Andalusia High School Quarterback Club will sponsor a chili tailgate supper this Friday night before the Headland game at the stadium.

The club will start serving the Wendy’s style chili at 5:30 p.m., and will continue until kickoff.

The chili supper is the first time the quarterback club has sponsored the event. For the Opp game, Massey Automotive will sponsor a similar event, where chicken wings will be served. Tickets to win a football signed by Alabama head coach Nick Saban and linebacker Nico Johnson will be available for purchase at Massey Automotive and Quality Tire before next week’s game.

The chili is free, and donations will be accepted at the tailgate, which will be under the white tent adjacent to the front gate of the stadium.

“It’s pretty simple, and it’s good,” AHS quarterback club member Jeff Hopkins said about the chili.

The donations received will go to help support the AHS football program.

“All of the proceeds go to the kids,” Hopkins said.

Through community support, the quarterback club has provided two 25-second clocks at either end of the football field; the new scoreboard; 70 football helmets; a big screen TV in the locker room; a high-speed camera; a DVD duplicator; and equipment and meals for the players, to name a few.

In August, the quarterback club sponsored the first AHS Hall of Fame banquet.
