McKenzie walks on Florala

FLORALA – From the opening kick, the McKenzie-Florala game appeared to be a walk in the park for the visiting Tigers.
McKenzie kicked off to the Wildcats and quickly recovered it. In the next play, the Tigers’ Chuck Thompson took the ball 29 yards into the end zone for a TD. The kick was no good, and McKenzie had a 6-0 lead only 8 seconds into the game.
After numerous attempts for a first down, Florala was forced to punt with 7:12 left in the first. McKenzie received at the 30, and Emmanual Johnson returned for the second score with 4:37 left in the first. The Tigers were up 12-0.
The second quarter, started off similar to the first, with the Tigers’ Thompson scoring with 11:02 on the clock. The kick was good and McKenzie extended its lead to 19-0.
Six minutes later, the Tigers scored again, this time on a 70-yard run. The point-after was good, and McKenzie was up 26-0 with 5:17 left in the half.
Two minutes later, the Tigers scored again, extending the lead to 32-0.
Thompson then intercepted an Austin McNeill pass intended for Johnathon Burleson to up the score to 38-0. They faked the field goal attempt and scored two for a 40-0 lead at the half.
The Wildcats showed promise in the third when Burleson intercepted a Tiger pass and scored on a 40-yard run. The point-after was no good, and the score was 40-6.
The Tigers’ Christian Adams scored with 2:40 left in the third to make it 46-6. Then, Terrance Clemmons connected to Peterson in the end zone to make it 52-6.
The 4th qtr was uneventful until the last couple of minutes of play, when Florala’s Hunter Oswald scored with only 1:35 left in the game. Eric Vega’s kick was good, and it as 54-13.
McKenzie retaliated seconds later with a score by Grace to go up 60-13/
Florala’s McNeill answered by connecting again with Burleson, who ran 80 yards for a touchdown. Vega’s kick was again good, and the scoring ended at 60-20.
