Article was misleading

I read with interest the front-page article last week about the “Blue Donation Boxes” that benefit “local Christian Organizations”. And then I saw a couple of the organizations that they support – Salvation Army and Sav-A-Life.
I feel that I must let your readers know that Sav-A-Life of Covington County has never received any funds from this organization! In fact, we had never heard of them before reading the article. After some research, we found that other Sav-A-Life ministries across the south may receive funds, but this suggestion of funding local groups was misleading.
We (Sav-A-Life) of Covington County appreciate the great relationship we have with the Christian Service Centers and Meredith’s Miracles, who both receive used clothing in our area to provide for the poor and needy in our communities. We want our supporters to understand how important these relationships have been, and will continue to be! And, we encourage local folks to continue to support these local ministries.
We look forward to a great banquet on October 1, and we look forward to joining some 500 of our friends and neighbors to enjoy an evening of celebration of ministry! We invite all of you to join us. Call the Center, at 334-222-0644, for tickets and information.
