4 local teams to play in regional volleyball tourney

Andalusia, Opp, Pleasant Home and Red Level earned spots to play in the South Regional Volleyball Tournament this Sat., Oct. 16.

Andalusia defeated Ashford Tuesday night 3-0 to win the Class 4A, Area 3 championship; Opp, Pleasant Home and Red Level all earned runner up finishes in their respective area tournaments.

In Class 3A, Area 2, Opp fell to Geneva 19-25, 25-21, 19-25, 25-21, 13-15 in the area championship game; in the Class 2A, Area 6 title game, Red Level fell to Goshen, 3-0; and in the Class 1A, Area 2 title game, Pleasant Home fell to Kinston, 3-0.

Andalusia and Kinston earned the right to host the Class 4A and Class 1A South Regional Tournaments, respectively.

Opp will travel to Geneva, Pleasant Home will travel to Kinston and Red Level goes to play at the Troy Sportsplex, where Goshen will host.

The tournament format is single elimination, with the top four teams advancing to the sub-state round. The semifinals will be at 1:30 p.m. followed by a consolation round. The championship will start at 4 p.m. These times are for each regional tournament.

Class 4A

Regional A at Andalusia High School

Class 3A

• Opp vs. Montgomery Academy, 11:15 a.m.

Class 2A

Regional B at Troy Sportsplex

• Thorsby vs. Goshen, 10 a.m.

• Millry vs. Zion Chapel, 10 a.m.

• Barbour County vs. Leroy, 11:15 a.m.

• Red Level vs. Isabella, 11:15 a.m.

Class 1A

Regional A at Kinston High School

• Akron vs. Kinston, 10 a.m.

• Linden vs. St. Luke’s Episcopal, 10 a.m.
