WHITE HALL AP) — What was supposed to be the second electronic bingo casino in White Hall decided to avoid legal trouble by offering paper bingo instead, but it didn’t draw enough customers.
Southern Star Entertainment Center closed just over a month after opening in Lowndes County. Southern Star’s owners from Nevada originally planned to offer electronic bingo until the Governor’s Task Force on Illegal Gambling raided the small town’s other electronic bingo operation. Instead, Southern Star opened last month with paper bingo.
General Manager Leslie Clark said Wednesday the business was unable to compete against electronic bingo games offered by Native Americans. The Poarch Creek Indians have the only three electronic bingo casinos still operating in the state.
