A Carolina man successfully fended off a mugger and his alleged attacker is now in jail.
Chief Deputy David Ande-rson said Monday the incident occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. at a home on Andy Road.
“When deputies arrived, the victim said someone had taken his billfold containing a large sum of money from his person without his permission,” Anderson said.
The victim, who was uninjured, was able to give deputies a detailed description of the suspect and the vehicle he was driving, Anderson said.
He said Deputy Paige Spivey and Reserve Deputy Justin Gantt found a vehicle matching the description at a trailer park off of Ala. Hwy. 55, just south of Andalusia.
Anderson said Investigator Howard West then arrived to conduct an interview with the suspect and the residents of the trailer where the car was located, when 27-year-old Antonio Lavan Hall admitted to taking the money.
Anderson said a search of the home revealed the stolen money.
Hall is being held in the Covington County Jail without bond on charges of violation of probation and theft of property I.
