Traffic stop nets pot, crack cocaine arrest

A Gantt man was charged was charged with three drug-related offenses after an officer discovered drugs in his vehicle during a routine traffic stop.

On Wed., Sept. 1, Officer Alvah Carlson of the Gantt Police Department stopped a vehicle driven by Charles Lawane Coleman for a traffic violation.

When Officer Carlson approached the vehicle, he noticed the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Officer Carlson asked for permission to search the vehicle and Coleman game him permission.

During the search, officers located a yellow plastic bad containing marijuana and crack cocaine. Coleman, 45, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

His bond was set at $23,000.
