TUSCALOOSA (AP) — Authorities have seized more than 400 lbs. of marijuana and charged a woman who they say was impersonating a U.S. Army recruiter.
Authorities have charged 31-year-old Jeri Shonte Lacy, of Dallas, Texas, with trafficking in cannabis after a traffic stop along Interstate 20/59 Tuesday.
Tuscaloosa County Sheriff Ted Sexton says authorities stopped the woman after noticing that the U.S. government tags on the front and rear of the GMC Yukon she was driving didn’t match.
Authorities searched the vehicle after smelling marijuana and found 403 lbs. of marijuana wrapped in clear plastic and bundled into 20 bales. Police say each pound was worth around $1,000.
