An Opp man was arrested Thursday after he confessed to hiding his meth stash inside his parent’s shed.

Charles Shane Bailey, 40, was first spotted by Opp police officers at the Jr. Mart on West Cummings Avenue, said Paul Hudson, Drug Task Force agent.

He said Investigator Mark Kyser knew Bailey was wanted on a previous manufacturing warrant and detained him.

“When Investigator Kyser searched Bailey, he found a small round plastic container containing a small amount of meth inside,” Hudson said. “Inside Bailey’s vehicle, officers also found other items associated with the ingestion of meth.”

Bailey was taken to the Opp Police Department for further interviewing, Hudson said.

“That’s when he told officers that he had some items in a shed on his parent’s property,” he said. “Officers were granted permission to search the shed and found a plastic bottle containing a bi-layered liquid methamphetamine oil inside the shed.”

Bailey has now been charged with an additional count of first-degree manufacturing, trafficking a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the county jail and held on a $983,000 bond.

This is the second meth-related arrest in Covington County this month. On Aug. 14, a Florala couple was jailed after DTF agents located a meth lab in their Caton Road home.
