Furgeson elected to 2nd term on Opp BOE

District 2 incumbent Jennifer Furgeson was re-elected to the Opp City Board of Education Tuesday, defeating her opponent T.D. Morgan 60-46.
Opp City Clerk Connie Smith said there was a 106 total votes, with four being absentee.
Furgeson won her second term and said she is looking forward to serving.
“I would like to see us continue to provide the best for our kids,” she said. “That’s what we are here for. In the touch financial situation, we have to be creative. I look forward to working through the challenges ahead of us.”
Seats in District 1 and District 4 were also up for vote, but only one candidate for each position qualified.
The Opp City Council certified Robert Young as the winner in District 1 and William Hines as the winner in District 4.
