Now that the 8U Cal Ripken Southeast Regional Tournament has concluded in Andalusia, I would like to thank all the volunteers that gave their time in making the tournament a huge success.

Twenty teams from across the Southeast, including Andalusia and Opp, competed in the tournament. As a result, local hotels and restaurants were filled by players, coaches, parents and fans. The economic impact on our area was tremendous.

Also, my deepest gratitude to tournament director, Alan Bracewell, host president, Duke Smith, hotel and administration coordinator, Sonja Godwin, and concessions coordinator, Billy Jo Stallworth.

A special thanks to the field and press box crews for their hard work. The fields were outstanding at the new Johnson Park complex.

This tournament could not be pulled off without the support of the citizens of Andalusia.

Andalusia is well known throughout the state and Southeast for hosting first-class baseball and softball tournaments.
