Covington County’s 16-18 All-Stars scored five runs each in the third and sixth innings and went on to beat Julington Park, Fla. 14-3 last night at the Babe Ruth Regional Tournament in Alex City.

The team from Florida got on board early with a run in the first inning, but CC answered two innings later with the first five in the third.

CC held Julington to no runs from the second to the fourth innings in the win. Julington Park added two runs in the fifth inning.

Troy Nolen and Colter Poole went 3-for-5 each to lead CC. Quinton Maddox, Zach Ward, Jordan Walker, Zack Stinson, Johnny Owens and Ross Graham had two hits each.

Graham pitched the full six innings of play and had five strikeouts.

Covington County will face So. Granville, East N.C., at 1 p.m. tomorrow.

In its first game of the tournament, CC’s Stinson hit a walk-off and pitched the local to a 7-6 win over Sylacauga on Thursday night.
