Local teams win

Opp’s 14-to-15-year-old All-Stars beat Covington County 2-0 on Sunday night to earn a spot in the 13-15 Babe Ruth District Tournament championship tonight at Crum Foshee Field on the campus of LBWCC.
With this victory, Opp earned a berth to play in the state tournament in Monroeville on July 14.
On Saturday, Covington County beat Andalusia 3-0 to advance to play Opp. Additionally, CC beat Ariton 6-4 on Friday night in its first game of the tournament.
Andalusia came back and beat Crenshaw County 10-4 in the 4:30 p.m. game of the elimination bracket on Saturday.
Opp 2, Covington County 0
Eli Johnson had three singles to lead Opp. Colin Holloway and Dalton Tidwell had two singles each to help lead Opp.
Opp tallied seven hits in the game, while Covington County had three hits.
Austin Worley, Ty Ballard and Shane Jones had one hit each for CC.
Tanner Duffell pitched three innings, and then Holloway came in to relieve Duffell in the fourth to finish the game.
Gage Worley pitched a complete game for CC.
Covington County 3, Andalusia 0
Daryl George, Gunner Wise and Gage Worley had one single each; to lead CC. Austin Worley had a double and one run.
George’s two-run single in the fifth inning scored Jacob Whatley and Brock Watson.
Jarrent Williams struck out nine batters and pitched a complete game one-hitter to lead Covington County to the win.
The game was scoreless until the fifth inning. CC scored two runs in the fifth inning, and one run in the sixth inning.
Todd Wright had the only hit for Andalusia in the game, which came in the sixth inning.
In the 13-year-old tournament, Opp got wins over Covington County and Andalusia to finish the round robin 2-0. In the last game of the tournament on Sunday, Covington County beat Andalusia.
