The Red Level Tigers suffered a season opening 50-48 loss to W.S. Neal Thursday night in East Brewton.
“We lost a close one,” Red Level coach Fred Kelley said. “If was back and forth the whole game.”
The Tigers led 24-20 at halftime, but Neal broke away in the third quarter scoring 16 compared to Red Level’s 10.
“We had a chance to win,” Kelley said. “We decided to set up the screen and we got a good look at the three-pointer.
“It was a good effort for a first game with such a young team,” he said.
Red Level’s James Feagin and Trey Salter led in scoring with 12 points apiece. Nick Dorsey added 10.

Red Level coach Delores Douglas didn’t have much to say about her team’s 19-point loss to W.S. Neal Friday.
“We just didn’t execute on offense and that was our biggest issue,” she said. “So, we’re going to work on execution.”
Red Level’s Koneshia Calloway led in scoring with eight points and had four steals on the night.
The Lady Tigers will play in the Straughn Thanksgiving tournament next week. Their first game is on Mon., Nov. 23, at 7:30 p.m. against Straughn.
