An Andalusia man was stabbed Sunday after he allegedly broke into a home to assault his ex-wife and her boyfriend.

Sgt. Paul Dean with the Andalusia Police Depa-rtment said the incident occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. at a residence on Dunson Street.

“When officers arrived, they learned that a male identified as Theodore Demundray Taylor had entered the residence without permission and while inside, assaulted two occupants,” Dean said.

“During that assault, the female victim stabbed Taylor in the upper left shoulder with a small pocket knife,” he said.

Dean said Taylor, 38, was not at the residence when police arrived, but was later located at a home on South Cotton Street.

After being treated at Andalusia Regional Hospital, Taylor was taken into custody and charged with first-degree burglary, third-degree domestic violence and third-degree assault. He was booked into the Covington County Jail and released Monday on a $228,000 bond.

Dean said no charges have been filed against Taylor’s ex-wife as a result of the incident.

“(Under Alabama law) a person has the right to utilize self defense when they reasonably believe that another person is using or about to use physical force against an occupant of a dwelling while committing or attempting to commit a burglary of (the) dwelling,” Dean said. “In this case, the burglary occurred when Taylor entered the residence without the permission (of) the home owner.”
