The Andalusia Winn-Dixie was not on a list of 30 underperforming locations the supermarket chain announced Thursday it would close in light of the economy.
Only one store in Alabama was on the list. Florida will lose 24 stores; two will close in both Georgia and Mississippi; and one will close in Louisiana.
Robin Miller, director of media relations for Winn-Dixie, said the average store employs around 65 associates. That would leave more than 2,000 Winn-Dixie employees looking for jobs.
Stores are expected to close by Sept. 22.
The Jacksonville, Fla.-based company announced closing plans on Tuesday, but did not name the stores until Thursday.
The company will cut 120 corporate and field support jobs, in addition to those tied to the closings.
