The Andalusia Police Department is investigating the apparent robbery of the night manager of the Andalusia McDonalds Saturday.
Investigator Ray Dixon said the incident occurred at approximately 2:20 a.m. outside the Wachovia Bank.
Details surrounding the incident are not being released at this time; however, reports estimated several thousand dollars were taken during the robbery.
“Right now, we’re in the process of reviewing video footage of the incident,” Dixon aid. “I can say that the manager was not hurt in the incident, thank goodness. More details will be released at a later date.”
Police Chief Wilbur Williams said as a policy, the police department does not report amounts of money stolen.
“We understand there were several days’ worth of receipts,” he said.
Williams said the APD routinely provides escorts for businesses who need to make night deposits, but was not contacted in this case.
“We respond within a short period of time,” he said.
“We are investigating all aspects of this incident, and ask that if anyone have any information, they please contact us,” Williams said.
