“Challenging.” That’s how Straughn High School valedictorian Kari Michelle Biggs described her curriculum and teachers at the school.

Danielle Grace Fowler was named salutatorian for the class of 2012.

Both girls will graduate with a 4.0 GPA and will continue their education careers at LBWCC.

Biggs wills serve as a LBWCC ambassador for two years, while Fowler was accepted into the honors program.

Both plan to transfer to Troy University after two years, with Biggs taking the medical route in pre-medicine and Fowler going the art education route.

While at SHS, Biggs has served as senior class president, was a member of the National Honor Society, Peer Helpers, National Spanish Honor Society, was selected as a 2011 Girls State Delegate, was a 2011 marshal, Straughn High School student of the year and was 2012 varsity cheerleader captain.

“I was honored to be challenged by such great teachers at Staughn High School,” Biggs said. “Thanks to my great teachers, who have helped me accomplish and success in my academics.”

Fowler has been a member of the National Honor Society and National Spanish Honor Society, maintained an A average, and was a marshal.

“There were many opportunities available to me at SHS,” Fowler said. “I feel I have accomplished much and have received a very good education. I feel I am well-prepared for college.”

Biggs is the daughter of Shelton and Michelle Biggs, and Fowler is the daughter of Paula and Diane Fowler.
