Diverticulitis means bye bye, cornbread

I have some very important information that people should know about. I was hospitalized in Opp last Saturday through Tuesday because of this, a thing called diverticulitis
Diverticulitis is a condition in which tiny pouches form along the inside of the colon. It affects about 10 percent of people over 40; half of the people over 60; and nearly everyone over the age of 80.
People with diverticulitis need to avoid nuts, seeds and popcorn and cornbread.
Medical experts say the best way to avoid complications from diverticulitis is to eat a diet rich in fiber, drink plenty of water and exercise regularly.
High fiber foods include whole grain breads, cereal and crackers; berries, fruits and vegetables such as broccoli, cabbage, spinach, carrots squash and beans, brown rice, beans and products such as cooked dried peas and beans.
So this is what happens to me over the weekend. It is something to live with. It doesn’t go away for awhile and you have got to live with it. Medication does help.
Oh by the way, one other thing, please don’t eat corn bread unless you need to. So, please be careful of what you eat.
