JOEL D. WIGGINS

Joel D. Wiggins, 78, of Charlotte, N.C., passed away on April 19, 2012, after an extended bout with pulmonary fibrosis.

He was predeceased by his parents, S.D. and Vera Wiggins of Opp, and brother, Bob Wiggins of N.Y.

After serving two years in the U.S. Navy, he was employed with and retired from Monsanto in the marketing division. He then joined sales division of Jefferson Mills, where he later became a partner. He lastly managed Fiber Yarn Products in Hickory, N.C., before full retirement. Throughout his career in textiles, he was loved and respected by customers and fellow workers alike and leaves behind many fond memories of friendships and accomplishments.

His hobbies were fishing, golf and following the Alabama Crimson Tide. He was a Master Mason and member of Oasis Shrine.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Griffin Wiggins, a daughter, Cindy Caudle, and her husband, Cameron, of Charlotte, N.C.; two sons, Jeff Wiggins and his wife, Jill, of Birmingham and Mark Wiggins of Charlotte, N.C.; and grandchildren, Hunter Caudle of San Antonio, Texas, Whitney Caudle of Tuscaloosa and Griffin and Lauren Wiggins of Birmingham.

It was his wish that, in lieu of a memorial service, that he be fondly remembered by his many friends and family alike. TH Robertson Funeral Service is serving the family.

 

EDITH FAYE LAMBERT

Edith Faye Lambert, 85, of Red Level, passed away Sat., April 14, 2012, in Pascagoula, Miss.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., today, Sat., April 21, at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel.

She is survived by one sister, Elsie Gay Lambert of Pascagoula, Miss., and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edgar Lambert; her parents, Joseph Anderson Mitchell and Evie Lee Liles Mitchell; three sisters, Willie Mae Seales, Jewel Gray Wiggins and Bessie Rae Wiggins; and one brother, Willard Mitchell.

She enjoyed long car rides through the countryside with her husband and spending time with her family.

LYNN BROWN KING

Lynn Brown King, 93, died Mon., April 16, 2012, in a Birmingham hospital.

She was a native of Millry, Ala, and a resident of Andalusia for most of her life. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Andalusia.

Graveside services will be held today, Sat., April 21, at 2 p.m., from the Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Trent officiating. Foreman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be at the Andalusia Memorial Cemetery 30 minutes prior to services.

She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Dr. Edgar Pugh King; her parents, Henry and Jessie Brown; her brothers, Osborne and Melvin Brown; and sisters, Melaine and Cecile Brown.

She is survived by her two daughters, Lynda K. (Ed) King of Brewton and Melaine K. (George) Salem of Birmingham; five grandchildren, Brian King of Atlanta, Russell Alan (Vanessa) King of Huntsville, Emily Ann Salem of Frankfort, Ky., Margaret Abigail Salem of Dallas and George Badie (Lindsey) Salem III of Birmingham; three great-grandchildren, Stella, Wyatt and Jude King, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the building fund of the First United Methodist Church of Andalusia or to the charity of one’s choice.

MAE A. CROSS

Mae A. Cross, 84, of McKinney, Texas, passed away on April 13, 2012.

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m., today, Sat., April 21, at Pleasant Home Baptist Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

She was born on July 16, 1927 in Cadott, Wis., to Otto and Olga Arneson. She was very proud of her Norwegian heritage.

She is survived by her son, John Scott Cross and wife, Beverly; daughter, Susan Sammons and husband, Joe; grandchildren, Sarah Weaver, Leah Brown, Chase and Matthew Cross and Blake and Logan Sammons; great-grandchildren, Kaden and Rylee Brown and Savannah Weaver; sisters, Lorraine Munroe and Anne Berseth; sisters-in-law, Nelda Hathcock and husband, Bob, and Juanita Franklin and husband, Louie; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, William Harold Cross. They were married for 52 years sharing a love and devotion few experience. She was a flight attendant and instructor for National Airlines. She also worked as a dental assistant and was a homemaker. She was an accomplished artist, avid gardener and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She and her family lived in Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, New Jersey, Hawaii and Texas. She was an ever-present caregiver and matriarch of the family. Her strength, confidence, and quick wit endeared those fortunate enough to know her and set a high standard to follow. She will be dearly missed by her family.
