ON THE RADAR: HOUSE TO VOTE ON IMMIGRATION LAW REVISIONS

The Alabama House of Representatives is expected to vote Thursday on revisions to Alabama’s immigration law.
Immigration tops the day’s proposed special order agenda in the House.
“There is sure to be rigorous debate on this issue,” said Todd Stacy, spokesman for House Speaker Mike Hubbard. “It is a controversial issue after all. I think the arguments will be exhaustive.”
“At the end of the day, I expect it to pass because this proposal is exactly what the majority of Alabamians want, which is a strict immigration law that works more efficiently and effectively,” he said.
Proponents say the changes will provide much-needed clarity to the law.
Opponents would like to see the GOP-controlled Legislature repeal significant portions or all of the law approved last year.
