There will be three candidates seeking House Seat 92 in November – Tuesday’s Republican primary winner Mike Jones Jr., Democrat David Darby and Indepen-dent Don Cotton.

Both Darby and Cotton offered congratulatory remarks to Jones on his primary win. Each said in the coming months, they plan to address “the tough issues” facing Covington County.

Darby, a pharmacist and small business owner in Andalusia, described himself as a strong supporter of bipartisan politics with a “willingness to work across party lines that will enable him to build consensus and facilitate compromise in Montgomery.” He said if elected, he plans to make job creation one of his top priorities.

“I congratulate the men and women across Alabama that were successful in their primary elections today, and I look forward to spirited and substantive debates in the months to follow,” Darby said.

Cotton, also a business owner in Andalusia, described himself as “conservative” and said he plans to work during the next five months to present the county with “solutions.”

“In the coming weeks, I plan to address issues such as gambling, getting Alabamians back to work, the state budget,” Cotton said. “We’re going to look at these ideas and these problems and come up with possible solutions.
